Amalgam-ing

I brought my young sister along try out Amalgam, a food spot along the recently added food court at East Park Mall in Lusaka. We normally walk passed it during our errands at the mall and thought it would be a great place to try out as we eased into the weekend.

Google defines Amalgam as a mixture and blend and this spots’ menu seemed to fit that exact description. They have a wider-than-usual variety of Continental, Asian and Local favourites but there were also some outliers and table griller’s that I would definitely like to try in warmer weather. I decided to keep things simple and opted for the Amalgam burger while my sister decided to have pizza from the joint next door as she was craving it much more.

I had hoped for the visuals to match the taste but alas! the burger was rather ‘usual’. Do not get me wrong, I didn’t dislike it, I just know it was just missing some essential seasoning or a punch of some flavour, kinda like how pickles, buttered buns, 1000 island sauce or sauteed onions are a big taste factor for some signature burger joints I’ve visited. However, I liked that the burger was oozing with juices, it was nicely crisp and the ingredients and accompaniments were fresh.

I would especially commend Amalgam for the great service and attentiveness to our needs. Maybe it was because I hadn’t been waited on for a while because of COVID-19, but I felt the team had their best feet forward throughout our chew-down. In the words of Schwarzenegger, I’ll be back.

My Review:
