The annual Cynthia Zukas Young Artist Awards (CZYAA) exhibition continues to be one of Zambia’s most compelling celebrations of emerging talent, offering a thoughtful and inspiring window into the creativity and raw vision of the country’s young artists. The last two editions I’ve attended have been especially uplifting. They reveal not only the depth of artistic skill across the nation but also the boldness and diversity of voices shaping the future of Zambia’s visual expression.
With close to seventy-three artists from across the country submitting their work, the 2025 edition once again provided a vibrant platform for young creatives to share their unique perspectives and ignite meaningful conversations. This year’s exhibition strikes a beautiful balance between tradition and innovation. It brings together artists whose practices span painting, sculpture, digital media, and other interdisciplinary forms—each contribution enriching the breadth and texture of the showcase.
The future of Zambia’s arts ecosystem is a shared responsibility, and I am personally grateful that platforms like CZYAA continue to nurture a generation of artists whose work reflects both our cultural heritage and our evolving contemporary identity.
