Baobab College recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the College hosted a delightful event that combined art, soulful music from local acts and treats from Proper Burger, Twangale and Urban Fresh. The heart of the event was an art exhibition showcasing the talents of both established and emerging artists, including some of Baobab’s own budding creatives.
I joined a vibrant crowd of artists and college community members to admire the exhibit, which also served a wonderful purpose: supporting the Kayula Cancer Home’s mission to provide housing and shelter for families seeking treatment at the Lusaka Cancer Hospital.
What truly struck me about the exhibition was the thoughtful curation. Simple artworks by children hung alongside intricate pieces from seasoned artists, creating a beautiful contrast that highlighted the potential of unleashed imaginations. Envisioned as an annual event, this exhibition promises to become a fertile ground for creativity, where artists of all ages and backgrounds can find a platform to express themselves.
