The Orchard

The Orchard is a farm style fresh food store, restaurant and event venue located in Silverest, on outskirts of Lusaka. It is located right next to the Great East road toward the Chongwe area with visible signage.

The food store has a simple selection of fresh produce from local farmers and some well known locally manufactured condiments and groceries. The outdoor event space is defined by the greenery, pillars culminated in compass points, all tailored for unique outdoor soirée. The restaurant at the Orchard has a simple breakfast and lunch menu with some light bites for those that like the best of with worlds. I ordered the butchers beef burger and my buddy ordered the pork chop with mashed potato.

The service had its kinks but things got better with time and our food was served within reasonable time. I liked the taste presentation of the pork chop, it worked well with the mash and sautéed veggies. The burger was pretty simple and nothing over the top, but the flavours in the pattie were the sure winner here. It even had me doing a bit of math, to bite or not to bite 😅, because it was pretty thick.

The ambiance at the Orchard is surely the crowd puller as it provides such a serene aesthetic for buying fresh farm produce and having freshly cooked treats. I would recommend it for Sunday stroll or just a quiet spot to reconnect and catch-up with friends in a quaint environment. I was glad to even find that the Orchard also has a budding plant nursery with several succulent varieties.
