Located in the Avondale suburb of Lusaka, GranDaddy’s has a versatile, rustic, open plan setting with a pub vibe. A growing staple for folk that enjoy barbecued treats, this steakhouse of sorts is a good place to unwind from the bustle of the big city. Although the spot has a pub vibe, there is provision for those that want ‘no-booze-in-my-face’, to sit under gazebos or away from the bar area but still have a great meal.
A bunch of great people joined me for a meal after saying our prayers one Sunday afternoon. Our tummies were already rumbling from the scents of assorted meats on charcoal grills so we wasted no time to order a bwana platter, prime rib steak, pork ribs, spring chicken with sides of nshima, creamy pasta salad and French fries.
The food was served in reasonable time and our waiter was alert and attentive to our needs. The food was pretty good and their meat portion sizes were decent for all eight of us to munch to our hearts delight. However, concern was raised regarding the portion size and the sweetness of the pasta salad, which had us split as some of us enjoyed it but others did not. We still resolved that overall, the spot was versatile and enjoyable.
π‘ It would be great for GranDaddyβs to have a few games (e.g. Jenga, 30 seconds) on site to complement their fun and chilled vibe.
